Yoga Teacher Training: Advanced Teacher Training (RYT200) Programs here at Heartsong!

*A minimum of 6 students is required for these programs  to proceed

The East to West Yoga 350-hour Certification Programs are registered with Yoga Alliance at the RYT-200 level. Elizabeth Hagan is the East to West Yoga School Ottawa Region Teacher Trainer. The Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Program – EWYT350-RYT200 consists of eight, twenty hour-long courses held once a month for eight months. Prerequisites to taking these advanced courses is East to West Y.E.S. Certification. (Students who are keen and wish to register for these Advanced Programs, but have perhaps ‘missed’ taking YES I & II, can start the RYT200 Program, and then take the YES I & II within the 8-month period before Weekend #8 Graduation. Elizabeth tries her best to accommodate all enthusiastic instructors)

The dates for the current session of 2016 – 2017  RYT200 Courses are as follows (*These dates are ‘firm’):

Times: Saturday from 10:30 am – 6 pm, and Sundays from 9 am – 6 pm 

(Participants in this program are welcome to take part in the regularly scheduled Yoga class held at Heartsong YOGA Studio on Saturday mornings from 9 -10:15 am, and this will give you some ‘extra’ training and insight!)

#1 Sept. 17-18/16: Advanced Anatomy & Alignment for Yoga Instructors

#2 Oct. 15-16/16: Teaching Methodology Part I (Saturday); Using Props in Yoga (Sunday Morning); and Basic Sanskrit for Yoga Teachers (Sunday Afternoon)

#3 Nov. 5-6/16: Teaching Methodology II (Saturday); Partner Yoga (Sunday Morning); Use of Voice & Language (Sunday Afternoon)

#4 Dec. 10-11/16: Vinyasa Sequencing I

# 5 Jan. 7-8, 2017: Pranayama – The Path to Unlimited Energy (Saturday); Teaching Practicum (Sunday Morning); and Ayurveda & Nutrition (Sunday Afternoon)

# 6  Feb. 4-5, 2017: Raja Yoga (Saturday); Advancing Yoga Postures (Sunday Morning); and Mantra in Yoga (Sunday Afternoon)

#7 April 8-9, 2017: Classical Hatha Sequencing I

#8 May 13-14, 2017: Chakra Yoga – Energy Healing for Total Health (Saturday); The Importance of Sadhana & The Business of Yoga (Sunday Morning); Potluck Luncheon and Graduation Ceremony (Afternoon)

*A minimum of 6 students (max 15) is required for this 8 (10 including YES I & II) month long advanced Yoga Teacher Training Program to proceed at Heartsong Studio.

Upcoming Heartsong/ East to West RYT500 Programs (Available to all RYT200 Instructors):*A minimum of 6 students for the full 4- weekends (max 15) is required   The Therapeutic Yoga Specialist (TYS) Certification Program is designed for RYT200 or equivalent Yoga teachers who want to focus on applying yoga practice in a way that supports healing, both to help restore energy to those who are weary and to support those with injury or disease. This program consists of 4 courses: Restorative Yoga Specialist I and Restorative Yoga Specialist II, as well as Deepening Your Asana Sadhana I and Deepening Your Asana Sadhana II. (These four courses are also part of the RYT500 program.)

To obtain your Therapeutic Yoga Specialist Certification (TYS), you must have completed an RYT200 or equivalent Yoga Teacher Training program and complete all four of the TYS courses.

#1: RESTORATIVE YOGA SPECIALIST I : Heartsong YOGA Studio October 22-23, 2016

(Part of Therapeutic Yoga Specialist Certification Program – TYS, read below for more info)
• You will learn how to teach a ‘Restorative Yoga’ class using props to create supported asana as well as pranayama, visualization and  meditation techniques.
• This course also focuses on delivering Yoga to those with a wide variety of health conditions, such as diabetes, heart and circulatory conditions, auto-immune disorders, arthritis and many others
• Participants will learn how to design yoga programming for those who need to trigger the natural healing process through the use of yoga postures with props, pranic healing/breath-work and visualization
• The tools and materials needed to interact with the medical, insurance and health professionals associated with working with clients with medical conditions will be delivered in this course

#2: Restorative Yoga Specialist II  : Heartsong YOGA Studio November 26-27, 2016

• Gain the ability to create yoga programming for those who are suffering from back injury/pain, including scoliosis, to fragile older adults as well as yoga for stress management
• Experience sample classes and practice teaching of specialized programming
The weekend consists of the following courses:
Yoga for Back Care, Saturday
Stress Management, Sunday morning
Yoga for Older Adults, Sunday afternoon

# 3: Deepening Your Asana Sadhana I: Heartsong YOGA Studio , April 29-30, 2017
• Explore and deepen your understanding of anatomical bio-mechanics in asana practice and how to translate this understanding to your students
• ‘Yoga for the Feet’, ‘Yoga for the Knees’, “Yoga for the Hips’ and ‘Yoga for the Pelvis’ will be studied
• We will move into the inner limbs of yogic practice to explore pranayama, sacred geometry and meditation in asana and we will build a stronger commitment to personal practice

#4: Deepening Your Asana Sadhana II : Heartsong YOGA Studio: June 10-11, 2017
• Explore and deepen your understanding of anatomical bio-mechanics in asana practice and how to translate this understanding to your students
• ‘Yoga for the Spine’, ‘Yoga for the Shoulder Girdle’ and ‘Bridging the Upper and Lower Body in Yogasana’ will be studied
• We will move into the inner limbs of yogic practice to explore pranayama, sacred geometry and meditation in asana and we will build a stronger commitment to personal practice
